Background
As a doctor, I have been specialising in women’s health for over 20 years and have been a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon for the past 12 years.
What concerns me most is the current vogue for plastic surgeons to carry out internal gynaecological surgery, which is what vaginoplasty, otherwise known as pelvic floor surgery, is. This surgery is not just simply ‘vaginal tightening’, as is all too often explained to a patient, but requires a careful consideration of the changes in shape and length of the vagina.
