Obstetrics
Nicholas Morris combines an orthodox practise with a genuinely holistic approach. Nicholas Morris is the son of Norman Morris, the obstetrician who pioneered the development of a more humane approach to childbirth in the United Kingdom. He feels that Obstetrics is a combination of art and science, and that both play a vital role in giving mothers both an enjoyable and safe pregnancy. He prides himself on his personal approach.
He is an authority on high blood pressure in pregnancy (pre-eclampsia) and ran a high risk obstetric practise in the NHS. During this time, he introduced the model of a psychotherapist working acutely in the antenatal clinic. This work has been presented at major meetings.
His private obstetric practise is based at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth and the Portland Hospital. He carries out elective Caesarean sections at both Hospitals. In 2008, he will also be seeing pregnant women at the Wellington Golders Green.
The Birth unit at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth is well known for its alternative approach to childbirth. There are birthing pools, and mothers not only can deliver in water, but with natural aromatherapy oils. The midwives are not only especially skilled in water birth but also in breast feeding. There is an excellent epidural service. The Portland is in the West End and offers an excellent and elegant obstetric hospital with the full complement of support medical services and again the midwives provide full support for the mothers.
Nicholas Morris works closely with Gordon Cochrane who is a very experienced expert in obstetric ultrasound. Together they will provide your antenatal care.
Nicholas Morris works with a breast feeding midwife counselor Esther who not only will provide help with both breast feeding and will teach baby massage and bonding techniques.
Just prior to your delivery Nicholas Morris will visit you at your home for a one to one antenatal and parentcraft session. For further information about Mr Morris’s Obstetric practice please contact his pa on 020 7390 8041.
